2015 Subaru Forester Review:
"The 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium strikes a thoughtful balance between practicality, safety, and comfort, making it one of the more compelling choices in the compact SUV segment. Known for its standard all-wheel-drive system, the Forester is particularly well-suited for buyers who need dependable performance in diverse weather and road conditions. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivers 170 horsepower, paired with either a six-speed manual or a Lineartronic CVT, depending on configuration. While not a performance standout, it offers adequate acceleration and solid fuel economy, especially for an AWD-equipped SUV.
One of the strongest attributes of the Forester is its interior space. The cabin is airy and functional, with excellent outward visibility and generous headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. The 2.5i Premium trim adds a notable step up in comfort and convenience features compared to the base model, including a panoramic power moonroof, 10-way power driver’s seat, and upgraded materials that lend a more refined feel to the otherwise utilitarian interior. Cargo capacity is also excellent for the class, with a wide rear opening and flat-folding rear seats providing up to 74.7 cubic feet of storage.
Ride quality in the 2015 Forester is comfortable and composed, aided by a well-tuned suspension that absorbs road imperfections without sacrificing too much agility. Steering is responsive and confident, though the Forester leans more toward a smooth, relaxed driving experience than a sporty one. Subaru’s commitment to safety also shines through, with the availability of the EyeSight driver-assist system on the CVT-equipped models, which includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure warning. Even without EyeSight, the Forester earned strong crash-test scores, including a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS when properly equipped.
Infotainment tech in the 2.5i Premium includes a 6.2-inch touchscreen with Subaru’s STARLINK interface, Bluetooth hands-free and audio streaming, HD Radio, and USB/iPod integration. It’s not the most advanced system by today’s standards, but it’s intuitive and gets the job done. Higher trims offer more tech and luxury, but the Premium model hits a sweet spot for buyers who want meaningful upgrades without jumping into significantly higher price brackets.
For buyers who value utility, all-weather capability, and safety in a reliable package, the 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium continues to be a smart and well-rounded choice."
