The 2016 Toyota RAV4 LE delivers a solid mix of utility, comfort, and reliability, especially appealing to those who want a crossover that works well day to day without too many frills. Under the hood there’s a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making about 176 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration isn’t sporty, but it’s perfectly adequate for highway merging and daily commuting. Ride quality is generally comfortable, and the steering feels predictable — it’s not going to wow you with sharp turns, but it offers confidence in most driving conditions.

Inside, the cabin is well laid out with straightforward controls. Fit and finish are decent, though the materials are mostly basic at this trim level — cloth upholstery, simple trims, and fewer luxury touches than higher versions. Passenger space is generous, especially in the rear; headroom and legroom are competitive, and visibility is good in most directions. Cargo space behind the rear seats is roomy and expands considerably when the rear seats are folded. Noise levels are acceptable though not exceptional—road and wind noise creep in more at high speed than in more premium crossovers.

Fuel economy is a plus for many buyers. The front-wheel-drive version gives decent mileage, and while all-wheel drive is available, it makes sense only if you often drive in slippery or rough conditions. The RAV4 LE’s efficiency, together with Toyota’s strong track record for durability and resale value, make it a practical choice. Safety equipment is solid for the base lineup: you get things like a rearview camera, standard airbags, stability/traction control, and good crash-test scores. The LE does lack some of the more advanced tech and driver-assist features found in higher trims, but for someone who values reliability, simplicity, and everyday usefulness, it offers excellent value.

However, even if you do not receive a notification, if your vehicle, child restraint, or other item of equipment is involved in a safety recall, the manufacturer is obligated to provide a free remedy.
