The 2015 Subaru Impreza 2.0i Limited is one of the more upscale versions of Subaru’s compact car that aims to give you AWD traction, good fuel efficiency, and more creature comforts without heading into luxury-price territory. It’s not going to thrill those who want speed, but for many buyers it hits the sweet spot of practicality, comfort, and safety in a region where weather or conditions make traction a priority.

Power comes from a 2.0-liter flat-four (“BOXER”) engine making about 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. Paired with the Lineartronic continuously variable automatic transmission, the driving experience is smooth but moderate — acceleration is adequate for daily driving, though not brisk. Where the Limited trim distinguishes itself is more in how it tames road noise, improves materials, and adds comfort and convenience. Steering is more responsive than older Impreza models, and the AWD system lends confidence in rain, snow, or slippery roads.

The ride is composed. Suspension tuning does a good job balancing comfort and stability. The car does well at soaking up typical potholes and road irregularities without making the cabin feel too stiff. That said, the ease of ride comes with some trade-offs: when pushed hard or during highway passing, you’ll hear engine revs and some noise intrusion. Still, for most users, the Limited’s insulation, upgraded windows, and attention to trim do enough to make longer trips more pleasant.

Inside, the 2.0i Limited raises the interior ambience. Leather or leatherette seating is standard, along with features that make ingress/egress, daily usage, and comfort more refined: keyless access or push-button start (depending on configuration), power moonroof, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, upgraded sound features, and more convenience features like dual USB ports. Rear seat legroom and overall passenger space are strong for the class, and visibility is good all around, especially forward.

Safety and driver aids are a strong suit. The Limited trim gives you options or standards not available on base trims: rear-vision camera, integrated turn-signal mirrors, “welcome” lighting, upgraded instrument cluster with color display, and, optionally, EyeSight driver-assist technologies. Features like adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane-departure warning are available, increasing the sense of safety and helping wedge this model ahead of many rivals lacking such features.

Fuel economy is among the strong points: in its CVT/AWD configuration, the 2.0i Limited gets very competitive numbers for a compact AWD car. It doesn’t defeat sports cars, but it rewards you well in daily driving and highway cruising.

If there’s a downside, it comes down to performance — the car isn’t fast, and in uphill or highway merging situations it can feel a bit strained. Also, some of the tones of engine noise are noticeable under load and the CVT can feel less engaging to those used to traditional automatics or manuals. But for someone who values daily comfort, safety, space, and all-weather capability more than outright speed, it’s a strong contender.
